Mental health and well being

As the Construction Industry has one of the highest levels of stress, anxiety, depression and suicide rates we as a Health and Safety consultancy are doing what we can to support our customers through difficult times.

As well as the human cost think about the number of working days lost as a result. It is worth investing the time to support your workforce. There are some key things you can have in place to ensure good mental health of your workforce:

  1. Encourage individuals to talk to each other about how they feel- a problem shared. This can be colleagues, family, friends
  2. Hold a briefing session or toolbox talk about why supporting each other through mental health issues is important
  3. As part of the risk assessment process assess mental health and  offer the opportunity to talk
  4. Signpost people to where they can get professional help from eg GP
  5. Signpost people to online self-help websites sites, meditation apps etc. There are lots of useful free resources out there!
  6. Encourage your workforce to eat healthy and adopt good sleep patterns
  7. Discourage self-medication with alcohol or drugs

We have a qualified Mental Health First Aider on our team so if you do want to talk to someone confidentially outside your immediate working environment then do give us a call on the number below.
